Throughout the history of the Islamic Republic of Iran, women have invariably been pioneers in making self-sacrifice and playing a brilliant role in bringing the Islamic Revolution to fruition. Moreover, they have of-fered many martyrs in this sacred path and patiently tolerated years of separation from their men who were living in captivity as prisoners of war. Thus, their part in protecting the independence and honor of the country has been great and praiseworthy.
Even though women constitute half the population of our country, but their contribution is by far more than that since no man can attain to honorable life and spiritual elevation without the support and self-sacrifice rendered by a pious and worthy woman. 

To ignore the role of self-sacrificing women is, in fact, a loss and a hindrance in the way of success. Thus, now, on the eve of the 42nd anniversary of the glorious victory of the Islamic Revolution, a con-gress is being held through the joint efforts of the Foundation of Martyrs and Veterans Affairs and the women’s section of the Presidential office to honor and pay homage to martyred women and those who have suffered disabilities or captivity while defend-ing Islam and the country.
No doubt, the influential role of women in society calls for serious research and studies in general, and about those self-sacrificing women to them we cer-tainly owe much, in particular.
