A Sacred Slogan | ||
A Sacred Slogan Shiva Mirhassani Regarding the significance of unity for Muslims across the globe, suffice is to cite one of the numerous Ahadith quoted from Prophet Muhammad (PBUH): “I enjoin upon you (particularly) two things; Tawhid (Monotheism) and Wahdah (Unity).” The fact that Allah’s most blessed Messenger – Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) – has emphasized the necessity of unity for the Muslims next to that of monotheism points, most certainly to the Muslims’ unity’s vital significance for their survival, progress and eternal happiness. And the fact that the enemies of Islam have invariably and through various means targeted the unity and solidarity of Muslims also serves as an outstanding proof for this reality. Now, more than ever before, the enemies are trying hard to deviate the world Muslims from their Islamic awakening movement for obvious reasons: for defeating the Muslim nations in each area of their struggle against the hegemonic, world-devouring imperialists, and also for diverting their own peoples’ attention from the serious economic pressures, and perilous social, cultural and moral conditions they are facing as a result of decades of anti-God, hypocritical policies of the imperialists’ agents whose only gift to humanity is ruin and who nevertheless claim to have the right and competence to rule the world, as if they have not brought enough miseries to the world peoples so far. Under such critical conditions the Islamic Ummah needs unity, just as our bodies need Oxygen, water and food for our survival. Any disunity among Muslims will be a triumph for their enemies, and that today the slogan of Islamic Unity is a sacred slogan. In fact, if today the Holy Prophet of Islam were among us, His Holiness would certainly prevent any dispersion among us since, according to the Holy Qur’an, His Holiness is very eager to save us and very concerned about the Muslim Ummah. Thus all Muslims should take the cause of Islamic Unity very seriously, because their unity leads to independence, glory and release from the evil domination of the imperialist enemies who constantly hatch plots for dividing Muslims everywhere and through propagating false sectarian matters aiming at inciting Muslims against their Muslim brothers, whereas Muslims, whether Sunni or Shi’a are bothers in faith and should, as per the commands of the Holy Qur’an and the teachings of their beloved Prophet(PBUH) be united as a single hand. Of course for honouring our dear Prophet (PBUH) mere celebration and words are not sufficient, rather we need to act upon the teachings of our Prophet (PBUH) and make the effort to fulfill his Divine ideals, including the unity and solidarity of the world Muslims. Today, nations have awakened and stood up against the domineering and their agents. We are all duty-bound to do our best to keep this unity between the Shi’a and the Sunni brothers alive, because those who sow seeds of discord between the Sunni and the Shi’a, are neither Sunni nor Shi’a. In this connection, please also read the following article from english.irib.ir. All true Muslims are waiting to live in a world of peace and tranquility, free from any violence and war.
Islamic Unity, Solution to Islamophobia There are two different narrations regarding the date of birth of the Prophet, although the month and year is the same that is Rabi al-Awwal, Aam al-Feel or the Year of the Elephant, corresponding to 570 AD. Sunni Muslims, citing narrations from the companions of the Prophet, who became acquainted with him when he was over 40 years of age, consider the 12th Rabi al-Awwal as his birthday. Shi’ite Muslims, who regard the family accounts to be more reliable, maintain that as per narrations of the Ahl al-Bayt, the Prophet was born on 17th of Rabi al-Awwal. This is not any issue of dispute and only a minor difference for both groups of Muslims. In order to bridge this 5-day gap, the Father of the Islamic Revolution, Imam Khomeini (may his soul rest in peace), initiated the Islamic Unity Week, which over the past three decades has gained momentum and succeeded in bringing the Ummah on a common platform. This is a welcome development since it is Islamic solidarity that can defeat the sordid campaign of Islamophobia launched by the enemies of Islam and Muslims. Among the serious dangers threatening the Islamic community is internal discord. The enemies, especially the Americans and the Zionists are trying to exploit such differences, and this warrants the Ummah to be on guard. The Muslims, unlike the myriad sects in which Christianity and other creeds are splintered, have no differences on the fundamental beliefs of Islam. For instance, both the Sunnis and Shi’ites believe in the indivisible monotheism of God Almighty, consider Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) to be the Last Divine Messenger, believe in the Day of Resurrection, face the Ka’ba as the focal point of the five-times-a-day obligatory prayers, fast in the same month of Ramadhan, perform the Hajj pilgrimage in the same month of Dhul-Hijjah, etc. Thus in view of these shared beliefs it was the foresight of the Late Imam Khomeini to initiate the Islamic Unity Week. The enemies are scared of Islamic unity, and are trying feverishly to sow seeds of discord. At the same time they have intensified their Islamophobia campaign in a bid to distort the image of Islam and prevent people in the West and other places from embracing the truth of Islam. The propaganda of the enemies includes anti-Islamic films, books, news, TV serials, and Internet sites, to portray Islam as violent and against human rights. Islam is the world’s fastest growing religion, and despite this poisonous campaign of the West, more and more people are turning to the truth of Islam. The new Muslims, who are mainly intellectuals, have embraced the realities of Islam after deep studies. This has further confused the Zionist-controlled western regimes. Their main goal is to create suspicion amongst Muslims and Muslim states in order to plunge them into civil strife and wars, so that Muslims become weak, and the West could dominate the world. The indirect creation of terrorist groups who shamelessly call themselves Islamic despite shedding the blood of fellow Muslims, is part of the West’s plot. Their intention is to embroil Muslims with each other, and at the same time carry out the Islamophobia campaign by insulting the sanctities of Islam including the spotless personality of the Prophet. Thus, in order to counter Islamophobia and the plots of the Zionists and the Western regimes, Muslims of all denominations should close ranks. The governments of Muslim states should also cooperate with each other, instead of bowing to the dictates of the West. The birth anniversary of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) affords us the best opportunity every year to foster Islamic solidarity. The Internet, press and the TV could be effectively used by Muslim groups and Muslim governments to educate the masses and preach the message of love, affection, and amity, instead of unnecessary fueling friction by magnifying the minor differences. | ||
