Women, Vanguards of Iranian Caravan in Incheon Morteza Afradian The 2014 Asian Games, officially known as the XVII Asiad, was a multi-sport event celebrated in Incheon, South Korea from September 19 – October 4, 2014, with 439 events in 36 sports and disciplines featured in the Games. Incheon was the third city in South Korea after Seoul (1986) and Busan (2002) to host the Asian Games.
She proved that number 13 is not unlucky, because on the 13th day of the Asian Games in Incheon, won 16th and 17th Karate gold medals for Iran. That gold-winning Iranian lady, following winning said: “I think this winning will result in the changing of outlook towards women’s Karate in our country, Iran. In the previous round, I did not succeed in winning a gold medal, but this time I was determined to win and I did. I am really glad for that athletic success.” The Iranian teen Najmeh Khedmati claimed the gold medal in women’s 10m air rifle in the 2014 Asian Games in Incheon, South Korea. Khedmati, 18, won the glittering medal with a total point of 207.9. Akram Khodabandeh, the Iranian female athlete in taekwondo won the silver medal. She had previously won a gold medal in the 3rd Islamic Solidarity Games 2013, and is one of the Iranian women athletes who can hope for gaining more and more successes for her country in world competitions. Sonia Gomari, has been among bronze-winning female Iranian athletes competing in the 2014 Asian Games. After winning the bronze medal she expressed her gratitude to her trainers, and her pleasure at having won a medal for her country. Solmaz Abbassi won bronze medal in the 17th round of Asian Games in rowing. She was one of the four-athlete Iranian team of rowing competing in the Gwangju Asian Games. In taekwondo competitions, during the 17th round of Asian games, 17 athletes were presented. These competitions won a bronze medal for Soussan Hajipour which medal was enough for her to gain fame among athletes. Arezoo Hakimi won a bronze medal for Iran competition with her rivals at the Asian Games. It has been reported that in the final games of canoe/kayak 200 meters for women, she was placed at the third rank and won the bronze medal. She has been the youngest Iranian female kayaker. Narjes Emamqolinejad won a silver medal at the Asian Games in shooting. She was next in rank to Najmeh Khedmati, another Iranian female athlete competing in the same match and has expressed that she considers the success of her Iranian rival as her own success and was very pleased to see the other Iranian female athletes gaining outstanding achievements. She won the silver medal just in the last day of the taekwondomatches in the 17th round of the Asian Games in Incheon. In 2009, she had also won a silver medal in West Asian Youth Games and a gold medal in the taekwondo competitions in the Asian Youth Games and a number of other medals including the gold medal(in 2013) in Indonesia. | ||
