“We said, ‘O fire! Be cool and safe for Abraham!”

The Holy Qur’an, Al-Anbiya: 69

The above-cited verse of the Holy Qur’an teaches us certain reviving lessons, including that of faith in the fact that the one who like Prophet Ibrahim (Abraham) (AS) truly believes in the Omnipotent, Omnipresent Allah, who never associates anyone or anything with the Divinity of Allah, and who defends the truth with all his/her power and means can rest assured of Allah’s help, guidance and support in whatever way is best for him/her. No doubt, this Divine rule applies to all devoted, dutiful servants of Allah, as it has applied to Allah’s Messengers (AS) in the past and accordingly it can be inferred that all beings and phenomena are controlled by Allah and have no independent effect of their own, and thus we should just rely on Allah and none else.

In this regard, some might pose the question of “then why so many men of God have been killed at the hands of enemies of God?... Why did not God command for example the swords, or bullets to become harmless for those pious men, as He did in the case of Prophet Abraham (AS), in his encounter with the pagans?”

The reply is crystal-clear. All righteous servants of Allah are pleased and satisfied with whatever fate Allah determines for them at all times and in all conditions, as Prophet Ibrahim (AS) and all other Divine Messengers (AS), the Infallible Imams (AS) and their true followers have been (and will be) and so, they have been and will be pleased with Allah’s will, no matter in what form that will might come. They feel confident that any worldly pain and suffering inflicted upon them at the hands of the oppressors they fight against will be compensated for by Allah who rewards the defenders of the truth abundantly and likewise that whenever Allah wishes, He will repel the harm caused or intended by the evil-doers. And so the true monotheists never let any fear of the worldly consequences of fighting for the truth penetrate their souls. They remain firm and steadfast on the blessed way of struggle for the cause of Allah and rely on none but Him and they are the truly victorious in both worlds, just the opposite of those who forget about their Omnipresent, Ever-Watchful Creator and submit to the ominous will of the anti -God domineering powers, who are in reality powerless themselves, since true power lies in the Hands of Allah – The One and Only. May He Himself place us under His blessed protection and guidance.  Amen
